Game of Thrones: War for Westeros Story & Campaign Guide

The battle for the Iron Throne comes to real-time strategy — a classic RTS set in the world of Westeros, from the studio behind State of Decay 3 co-development work, PlaySide Studios.

Story Overview

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is an upcoming real-time strategy game developed by PlaySide Studios and published by PlaySide, set in the world of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. It is scheduled to launch on Windows PC via Steam in 2027.

The game brings classic isometric RTS gameplay to the Seven Kingdoms. In the single-player campaign you conquer the realm one hold at a time, while in multiplayer skirmish you fight to dominate your rivals and claim the Iron Throne.

Four playable factions anchor the conflict: House Stark and their loyal northern bannermen, House Lannister with their wealth-fueled armies, House Targaryen with Dothraki cavalry and dragons, and the Night King’s overwhelming waves of wights and giants.

The game was first revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, and a new official gameplay teaser dropped on August 13, 2026, ahead of a full gameplay showcase at gamescom Opening Night Live. An official content update titled For The Throne is planned for August 21, 2026.
